This year vinspired Lake of Stars is supporting the Microloan Foundation.

The MicroLoan Foundation (MicroLoan) is a UK based Microfinance charity providing small loans, basic business training and ongoing mentoring to poor women in sub-Saharan Africa . Its innovative microfinance model enables people living on less than US$1 a day to develop self-sustainable livelihoods, to feed, clothe and educate their families, and work their own way out of the poverty trap.

MicroLoan believes that investing in people and their businesses, as opposed to providing hand-outs, is the key to long-term economic development.  Its largest operation is in Malawi where it currently has 19 branches and has just made its 50,000th loan.  For more information, go to www.microloanfoundation.org.uk
